Mirto del Contadino is a typical liqueur from the island of Sardinia, obtained by the alcoholic maceration of myrtle sloes. Deep red in colour, it has the typical aroma of the sloes themselves and has an alcohol content of 30%. This liqueur, which has recognised digestive properties, is produced only with the addition of sugar. It is best enjoyed cold at the end of a meal or as an aperitif. It is also used by many Sardinian pastry shops in the preparation of the island's typical sweets.
